Zoning and Permit Information

The City of Cold Spring requires a building permit when doing various construction projects, including new residential or commercial construction, remodeling, additions, decks, replacing windows, shingling, re-siding, as well as constructing signs or fences.  This list is not inclusive so be sure to check with staff at City Hall on your particular project.

 

The building permit process starts at City Hall with permit application materials and information, along with zoning compliance.  Questions about legal descriptions, zoning classifications, lot setback requirements, and height regulations can be answered here.  

 

The City contracts with Inspection Services of Central Minnesota, LLC for residential and commercial inspections.  The building inspector, David Barsody should be contacted for building permit application approval and to arrange inspections.  A variety of information and forms for specific construction projects in Cold Spring are available online at the Building Inspector's website at www.Insp-Services.com.
