From Early Childhood Family Education to Higher Education
In addition to the Rocori Area Schools, the district also maintains the Community Education Programwhich offers lifelong learning for all ages. They offer a wide variety of programs and classes from the Rocori Kids program for the young to intergenerational activities at the Senior Center for the elderly. Rocori Community Education has much to offer those of all ages and continues enrich the education of the community.
The name Rocori is derived from the first two letters of each of the three towns: Rockville, Cold Spring, and Richmond. The name Rocori was submitted in a school-naming contest by Diane Brisse of Richmond. The name officially applies only to the high school of the district. The construction of Rocori High School was the culmination of several years of united planning by the citizens of twenty-one rural school districts.
Cold Spring, the largest community in the school district, is located 15 miles from St. Cloud on Highway 23, and 75 miles from Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Many institutions for higher learning are located in the area which include St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud Technical and Community College, Rasmussen College, Minnesota School of Business and College of St. Scholastica (Accelerated Degree Evening Program) . Also nearby are two private colleges, The College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph and St. John’s University in Collegeville. Other privately owned trade and business schools are also located in the area including Model College of Hair Design and Regency Beauty Academy.
