Lions Park
Lions Park is nestled close to the banks of the Sauk River just off Highway 23. It is an inviting spot for tired travelers, with shady oaks, ample parking, and room to run and play.
Lions Park has received several improvements in the past few years including an increased parking area as well as additional park land. The park also features a newly constructed park shelter built in a cooperative effort between the City and the local Lions group. As in the past visitors are welcomed to use the picnic area with tables, along with the boat landing and a fishing pier which provide for fine fishing on the Sauk River.
The construction of the new access to the park was made possible with the help of the Department of Natural Resources. They purchased the property adjoining the park, removed the house and cleared the lot so the park land area could be expanded. In exchange for the additional property, the City agreed to expand the size of the paved parking lot and improve the boat landing.
The improvements to the park include an expanded and better designed parking lot and boat landing. The new lot has additional and newly designed parking spaces for trucks with boats and trailers attached. The boat landing has received a second set of concrete ramps to enable two boaters to use the landing at the same time. The access lane to the landing has also be widened and lanes will be striped to allow for better traffic flow to and from the landing.
With the newly expanded highway and bridge to its side the park surely will turn a few heads with its new design and additional
expansion.
